Major: Lighting and Rendering (Part 1)

Today, I began to work on my lighting and rendering (specifically, working on my rim light for the characters so I can perfect it and then export it out for use on other characters and objects so that they match and only small tweaks need to be made). I did some brief test renders to figure out what I wanted, and settled on a soft pink colour for the second ramp colour.

After gathering some opinions from others, I decided that a softer light with a less harsh edge would be most suitable. I did a quick render with a slightly softer ramp configuration and lighter colour:

I did notice, at this point, that the specular settings weren't what I wanted and were giving a subtle 'plastic' look on the character, so I went in and bumped up the 'roughness' setting slightly to remedy this. This is what I will be settling with and will export this, apply it to my characters and props and adjust accordingly, and then begin to set up my turnarounds and renders for characters, environments, and props.

I will probably adjust the lighting of each scene with regard to the skydome and directional lights to create my desired effects where necessary as well.
